INMATE TELEPHONE SYSTEM
This Request for Information (RFI) solicits feedback from the
supplier community regarding a proposed requirement from
Correctional Service Canada for a direct-dial wire-line
telephone service that would be used by inmates incarcerated at
various Federal correctional institutions across the country
(hereinafter referred to as the "Inmate Telephone System"). 
Potential suppliers are invited to submit responses to the
questions set out in this RFI.  The questions are related to the
proposed approach and related specifications for the procurement
of the Inmate Telephone System should the Government of Canada
decide to proceed with a bid solicitation.  Potential suppliers
are also invited to submit comments, concerns, suggestions and,
where applicable, alternative recommendations regarding how the
requirements or objectives described in this RFI could be
satisfied or improved upon.
Inmates would use the proposed Inmate Telephone System to place
outgoing local and/or long distance calls to telephone numbers
that have been authorized by Correctional Service Canada. 
Inmates would have the option of using either debit card or
collect calling to place their calls.  The proposed Inmate
Telephone System would also include the hardware, software and
network that Correctional Service Canada would require to:
manage, control and supervise the inmates' use of the service;
access and retrieve data concerning inmate telephone activity
from a national centralized database; and 
electronically transfer an inmate's file when the inmate is
moved to another correctional facility. 
This is not a bid solicitation.  A contract will not result from
this activity.  This RFI will not necessarily result in any
procurement action and contractors are not to earmark stock or
facilities relative to the work described in this RFI.
