    Slope Vegetation Maintenance - Pilot Project , Parliament Hill, Ottawa, Ontario  
    
    The Slope Vegetation MaintenancePilot Project is a three (3) year pilot project aimed at controlling soil erosion, addressing health and safety concerns, improving aesthetics, and restoring a desirable mix of native vegetation along the East escarpment of Parliament Hill. 
    
    Thework includes: pruning and removal of infected and invasivetrees; the planting of species nativeto this forest region, especially those shown to do well on escarpments; installation of soil stabilization and erosion control geo-systems; and, monitoring and maintaining the planted vegetation.
    
    Project constraints include: the heritage nature of the site (Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal are designated as a federally classified national historic site); the presence of archaeological features; the presence of endangered species; the steep topographical features of the work area; and, the numerous visitors to both the Rideau Canal and Parliament Hill.  
    
    Phase 1:  Arboriculture Work after July 31. All arboriculture work must be done within the sameseason. Planting between September 1 and October 15 - must be done after arboriculture work is completed.  All planting work must be done within the same season.  
    
    Phase 2:  Arboriculture Work between January 15 and April 1st.  Maintenance from May 15 toOctober 15.
    
    Phase 3:  Arboriculture Work between January 1st and March 31.  All arboriculture work must be done within the same season.  Planting between May 15 and June 30 - must be done after arboriculture work is completed.  All planting work mustbedone within the same season.  Maintenance betweenMay 15 and October 15, after planting is completed.
    
    MANDATORY SECURITY REQUIREMENT:  
     
    This procurement contains a mandatory security requirement.  At bid closing, the Bidder must hold a valid Designated Organization Screening (DOS). Failure to comply with this requirement will render the Bid non-compliant and no further consideration will be given to the Bid. 
    
    OPTIONAL SITE VISIT:  
    
    There will be a site visit on June 2nd, 2016 at 10:00am.Interested bidders shall meet at theBottom of Wellington stairs, East escarpment, beside Lock Station at Canal.  The site visit will be limited to the walkway at the base of the escarpment.
