    PROJECT IDENTIFICATION:  EP788-130872/A,  R.011971.212,
    Confederation Building Fire Alarm Audibility Upgrade, 229
    Wellington Street, Ottawa. Ontario.
    
    PROJECT DESCRIPTION:    
    The existing fire alarm system in the Confederation Building at
    229 Wellington Street, Ottawa, ON is dated, in poor condition,
    and not functioning correctly. The system does not meet today's
    National and Ontario Building Codes and Fire Codes with respect
    to required audibility levels throughout the various offices and
    occupied areas of the building. After tests and studies it was
    determined that the existing system must be replaced in its
    entirety, with new code compliant fire alarm audibility devices
    along with additional devices added throughout the building.
    Work is to be completed within forty (40) weeks after contract
    award. 
    
    MANDATORY SECURITY REQUIREMENT:   
    This procurement contains a mandatory security requirement.  At
    bid closing, the Bidder must hold a valid Designated
    Organization Screening (DOS), issue by the Canadian Industrial
    Security Directorate (CISD), Public Works and Government
    Services Canada (PWGSC).  Failure to comply with this
    requirement will render the Bid non-compliant and no further
    consideration will be given to the Bid. 
    
    SITE VISIT:  
    There will be a site visit on August 15, 2012 at 10h00.
    Interested bidders shall meet by the Commissionaires Desk, main
    entrance of the Confederation Building, 229 Wellington Street,
    Ottawa, Ontario. Photo ID will be required.
