Summary: Since fiscal year 2017-2018, the Government of Canada has launched the Oceans Protection Plan (OPP). Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canadian Hydrographic Service (DFO-CHS) seeks to implement an integrated modern multi-platform approach to bathymetric and LiDAR hydrography and charting in keys areas within Canada's navigable waters. This will allow for the delivery of a flexible, affordable and sustainable hydrographic survey program to meet Canada's foreseeable hydrographic requirements. DFO-CHS will undertake near-shore surveying activities through a combination of Light detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and multi-beam surveys covering priority and high risk areas in Arctic, Pacific, Newfoundland and Labrador, Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence, Maritimes and Great Lake Basin. The scope of the Bathymetric and LiDar surveys includes; • Fill important gaps in high-resolution coastline and bathymetry in inter-tidal zones and near shore areas to ensure the delivery of improved navigational charts and enhanced electronic navigational chart (ENC) in near-shore areas (e.g., Haida Gwaii), high risk coastal and inland water zones. • Undertake more extensive efforts to fill, at an accelerated pace, hydrographic data gaps in the Arctic, through the provision of adequate navigational products and services. Canada is seeking information on current marketplace capabilities and industry interest to work collaboratively with in order to support bathymetric and LiDAR surveys in Canada’s navigable waters. This Industry Day is to initiate engagement with industry, to present the areas of interest for LiDAR and multi-beam surveys in the next four years, share plans and obtain industry input on the LiDar and Multibeam Supply Arrangements currently in place. Additionally, current and potential suppliers will participate in an exclusive twenty (20) minute consultation meeting with representatives from DFO-CHS and Public Services and Procurement Canada. 2.
