Modular X-Ray Shielded Enclosure 

CanmetENERGY is in the process of constructing a pilot scale pressurized oxygen fired fluidized bed.  The objective of this project is to provide the models and data required to scale-up oxy-pressurized fluidized bedcombustion (PFBC) from 1 MWth to 50 MWth using fuels for the power, oil and gas, and industrial sectors. One of the diagnostics tools to be applied in the fluidized bed at Canmet is X-ray imaging. By transmitting an X-ray beam through the test medium andcollecting the images, multiphase flow distribution in a fluidized bed will be investigated.

The X-ray source and associated equipment for this project must be installed in an enclosure equipped with protective shielding which prevents any radiationfrom exiting. 

The contractor must provide lead lined panels and specified components for on-site assembly of an X-ray shielded enclosure.
