DND requires vehicles capable of operating in any snow condition to provide mobility for its operators for nondescript transportation on snow covered terrain that is both travelled and untraveled. The Light Over the Snow Vehicle (LOSV) provides assured transportation in any terrain that is snow covered ranging from hard pack snow ice to fresh powder. These vehicles provide sufficient transportation options to enable operators to move about in snow bound regions with diminished risk and concern by blending in with the environment to avoid undue attention. The vehicles are to be confidently driven independently of all other vehicles, roads, trails, and facilities. A single model is preferred to best accomplish varied mission assignments with allowance for tailoring to specific missions to include track and ski change-out and reconfiguration as appropriate to leverage proven outfitting variations of production vehicles that are common to all projected regions of operation. The vehicle role is solely to transport a single fully outfitted occupant from point to point in uncontested terrain employing a combination of stealth, agility, and robustness to achieve the required effect with no direct combat role identified.
