DFO Science requires a service to collect up to 100 seals consisting of 90 harp seals (50:50 male: female ratio, 75% large bedlamers and adults, 25% small bedlamers and YOY) and 10 hooded seals from offshore waters (>40 nautical miles from shore) of northeast Newfoundland (NAFO Divisions 3KL). The seals will be collected whole by the contractor and be brought back to shore. The contractor will store the seals and thaw them at a later date when requested by DFO Science. When thawed, DFO personnel (3 people) will travel to the contractor’s home port and will collect morphometric measurements and samples (jaws, stomachs, reproductive organs, tissue). The contractor will assist with the collection of these samples.
