Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), on behalf of Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), is seeking feedback from industry, and in particular suppliers of Medium Scale Imaging systems (MSI).
CBSA uses a number of MSI systems for inspection of imported goods for border security applications and trade facilitation. These devices use radiographic imaging to detect concealed objects (contraband, weapons, restricted plants or animals) and/or to validate the presence of legitimate, properly declared goods without the need for more extensive search methods. 

The purpose of the RFI is to determine what is currently available on the market for MSI-type systems, and to assess the footprint, imaging capabilities, site and operational requirements for those systems. This RFI contains a list of specific questions and requests for additional documentation with regards to the MSI.

Respondents are requested to provide their comments, concerns and, where applicable, alternative recommendations regarding how the requirements or objectives described in this RFI could be satisfied. Respondents should explain any assumptions they make in their responses.

The information will be used for planning purposes only and there is no guarantee that the project will be approved or subsequent contracts awarded. Canada will not reimburse any respondent for expenses incurred in responding to this RFI.

NOTE TO POTENTIAL RESPONDENTS:
This is not a bid solicitation. This RFI will not result in the award of any contract or lead to any development funding initiative. Potential suppliers of any goods described in this RFI should not reserve stock as a result of any information contained in the RFI. This RFI will not result in the creation of any source list. Therefore, whether or not any potential supplier responds to this RFI will not preclude that supplier from participating in any future procurement. The procurement of any of the goods described in this RFI will not necessary follow this RFI. This RFI is simply intended to solicit feedback from industry with respect to the matters described in this RFI.
