    Public Works and Government Services Canada on behalf of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) has a requirement for work which includes but is not limited to:
    
    •Removal of all materials within the limits shown on the plans. Existing rock materials are to be sorted and placed in new work as per the sizes specified. Removal of existing deteriorated concrete retaining wall to be considered incidental to removals. Debris from old structures, including old steel sheet piling and timber to be disposed of off-site. Excavation material not suitable for re-use to be moved to disposal site identified. 
    
    •Class ‘A’ Excavation within limited shown on the plans. Material meeting filter stone gradation specified may be placed in new work. Material not suitable for reuse to be moved to disposal site identified. 
    
    •Supply and placement of armourstone and filter stone materials to construct the new shore protection as shown on the plans, including placement of salvaged rock materials in the new work.
    
    SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
    
    It is recommended the bidders visit the site and its surroundings and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, the means to access the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions and in general obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances prior to submitting a bid. 
    
    Bidders must refer to Section 01 35 29  Health and Safety Requirements, Project/Site Conditions of specifications before performing any site inspection or preliminary work on site.
