    Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) has a
    requirement for the supply and installation of new heat pumps
    and well field, as well as, all associated equipment at Building
    A-5, Springhill Institution, Springhill, Nova Scotia. All work
    is to be performed in accordance with the plans and
    specifications for PWGSC Project Number R.043940.001 forming
    part of the bid document. The contract completion is twenty-one
    (21) weeks after contract award.
    
    OPTIONAL SITE VISIT
    It is recommended that the Bidder or a representative of the
    Bidder visit the work site and examine the Scope of the Work
    required and the existing conditions. There will be an optional
    site visit on September 11, 2012 at 10:00 am.  All interested
    bidders are to meet at the main entrance at the Springhill
    Institution, Springhill, Nova Scotia. No cameras, cell phones or
    tobacco products are permitted on site. Although not mandatory,
    all contractors  wishing to submit a tender for this work are
    encouraged to attend to become familiar with all aspects of the
    work. Any clarifications or changes to the bid solicitation
    resulting from the site visit will be included as an amendment
    to the bid solicitation.
    Please note that there is a security clearance required for this
    site visit. ALL interested bidders, regardless of current
    clearance level, must submit the Institution Access CPIC
    Clearance request form attached as Appendix 3 of the Invitation
    to Tender document by 2:00 pm August 27, 2012.

    A public bid opening will be held at the Bid Receiving Unit,
    Room 421, 189 Prince William Street, Saint John, N.B.
    
    The estimated cost for this opportunity is within the following
    category: $250 000,001 -         $500,000 (HST extra).

    Standard bid and contract security for construction is required.
    
    Pursuant to GC6 - Delays and Changes in Work of the General
    Conditions, the resulting construction contract will include the
    provisions for changes in the work at the request of the
    Departmental Representative.  
    
    
    Drawings and Specifications are now available for viewing and
    downloading in a Portable Document Format (PDF) or in a standard
    paper version. Bidders should note that Attachment 1 (ATT 1)
    contains the Drawings and Specifications Package (DSP) which
    consists of PDF files organized in an industry recognized
    directory structure.
    
    Firms intending to submit tenders on this project should obtain
    tender documents through the MERX services provider.  Addenda,
    when issued, will be available from the MERX provider.  Firms
    that elect to base their bids on tender documents obtained from
    other sources do so at their own risk and will be solely
    responsible to inform the tender calling authority of their
    intention to bid.

    incorporated by reference, and form part of the tender and
    contract documents.  The standard documents are issued by Public
    Works and Government Services and may be viewed on the MERX
    electronic bulletin board as part of the information module.
