The work under this contract covers the furnishing of all labour, material, tools, equipment, plant, and supervision required to rehabilitate the Newboro Lock 36. Lock 36 is part of the Rideau Canal National Historic Site of Canada and is located on the Rideau Canal between Upper Rideau Lake and Big Rideau Lake near the town of Crosby, Ontario.   Access is via route 42 in Newboro which can be access from the Town of Crosby on Highway 15

The Newboro Lock 36 project consists of comprehensive repair of all deteriorated masonry and mortar joints within all components of the lock including the walls, wing walls and stop log gains.  The repair project also includes upgrading the existing mechanical and electrical components which are associated with the steel lock gates

Work on this project is scheduled over two non-navigational seasons from mid-October 2018 to mid-May 2019 and from mid-October 2019 to mid-May 2020, with certain in water time constraints

The scope of the works listed in the specifications will require the contractor to provide all services to complete the construction and ensure the navigational season is operational.

There will be a site visit on September 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Interested bidders are to meet at Newboro Lock 36, 10 Blockhouse lane, Elgin, Ontario, K0G 1E0.
