    Description

    The COVID-19 pandemic has generated an increased consumption of PPE by healthcare workers. The SHA has accumulated a large amount of expired PPE. Efforts to obtain expiry date extensions were unsuccessful.
    SHA invites Proposals from qualified parties for the recycle of Products stored in warehouses in Regina and Saskatoon in accordance with the specifications and requirements set out in this RFP.
    This Request for Proposal (“RFP”) is being issued to identify Proponent(s) to enter into a non-exclusive Contract(s) between Proponent(s) and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), for the pick-up, transportation, recycling of a large quantity of expired Healthcare Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) services along with other related products (the “Products and Services”), as more fully described in this RFP, to the SHA as described at their facilities listed. The SHA makes no commitment to any minimum or maximum quantity, or dollar volume from the selected list. Utilization of this agreement will be on as needed basis.


    Additional Information


    The present challenge specifically targets solutions for the development of efficient and cost-effective recycling technologies which will enable the conversion of disposable PPE waste generated in the Saskatchewan Health Authority into valuable products and divert it from landfills.
    The proposal must demonstrate how the proposed solution enables the conversion of polyolefin-based waste PPE generated in the healthcare system into materials or molecules of significant commercial value. All items/categories included in this RFP are strictly for recycling are not to be used for their initially intended manufactured purposes. Proponents are to clearly describe their recycling process and intended use and/or disposal of the recycled materials.
    The proposed solution must comply with provincial and federal legislation around proper handling of new/unused expired product.

    Contract duration

    The estimated contract period will be 36 month(s).
