    Description
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is undertaking remediation at the Fireside Maintenance Camp along the Alaska Highway (Highway 97) in northern British Columbia. The Fireside Maintenance Camp (i.e., the Site) is located approximately 380 km northwest of Fort Nelson, BC, and 150 km southwest of Watson Lake, YT. The Site currently operates as an active Highway Maintenance Yard consisting of a large, mostly level, graveled area with multiple buildings to support maintenance activities and some residences.
The In Situ Remediation Project involves injection of a hydrogen peroxide solution to remediate deep petroleum hydrocarbon (PHC) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) impacts in soil associated with the regional aquifer at the Site. The targeted areas lie at depths of up to 37 m below ground surface. The work builds upon ongoing environmental investigations and previous In Situ Remediation Programs that were completed since 2017 and recently in March 2023. Water for mixing and diluting the solution can be drawn from an existing water supply well at the Site. No other infrastructure at the Fireside Maintenance Camp will be available to the Contractor. The Contractor’s use of the Fireside Maintenance Camp shall be limited to designated work areas for the Project.
