The project consists of the construction of a four-story concrete above grade structure totaling 9,640sm and a 3,560sm renovation of the existing headquarters building resulting in an amalgamated APD Headquarters of 13,200sm. Contained in this newly expanded facility is 1,436.7sm of shelled area on the fourth floor which will be utilized for the growth of the department in the future. The project incorporates 78 parking stalls (52 parkade and 26 surface) located in the facility to service the APD’s fleet requirements. The envelops design utilizes a mix of aluminum curtain wall and metal cladding on the exterior and aims to produce an energy efficient building that creates no additional new greenhouse gases and incorporates other green initiatives wherever possible.
