Description
The British Columbia Ministry of Forests (Ministry) is requesting information from suppliers as set out in section 1.3. The Ministry of Forests is responsible for the stewardship of provincial Crown land and ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land-based resources. The Ministry works with Indigenous and rural communities to strengthen and diversify their economies.
The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to gather information that may be useful to the Ministry with respect to a potential future procurement or other process or initiative. This RFI is not: (i) a tender notice or call for tenders; (ii) a notice of intended procurement; or (iii) a notice of planned procurement.
The Ministry is currently working to develop strategies around the retention and management of deciduous trees in the Omineca Region. Retention of deciduous trees in specific areas may help achieve a range of objectives around wildlife habitat, biodiversity, wildfire mitigation and carbon sequestration. To help guide this work, the Ministry seeks to understand the historical (i.e., pre-industrial forest management) distribution of deciduous trees in portions of the Omineca Region.
