The University of British Columbia (UBC) is inviting interested parties to participate in the procurement process for the provision of Mechanical Contractor for DES Valve Installation.
Below is more detailed Information about the work:
UBC is conducting repairs to their hot water district Energy system (DES), replacing valves
and air vents at 6 locations across their Vancouver Campus DES. This project involves civil
excavation of DES valves to be replaced, mechanical works to replace valves at each work
site, observation of welds during an in-service test, and surface restoration for all 6 work
locations noted below and in the drawings.
.2 The six locations with valve works occurring in this phase are as follows:
a. Outside the Northeast corner of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre – Replacement of
four (two sets of supply and return) 250 mm valves with 250 mm vent-valve-vent
assemblies in floatation manholes;
b. Outside the East side of the Chemistry Building in Volkoff lane – Installation of 2 new
100 mm valves in valve boxes;
c. Near the intersection of Main Mall and Biological Sciences Road – Replacement of two
150 mm air vents with new 150 mm pre-insulated tees with service valves in valve
boxes;
d. Outside the Northwest corner of the Fred Kaiser Building, Applied Sciences Road –
Replacement of two 350 mm vent-valve assemblies located in hatch G5H1 with new 350
mm pre-insulated straight pipe. The existing vents to be removed are approximately 15
feet west of the more recently vent-valve-vents installed in valves boxes by UBC;
e. Outside the Norwest corner of the Forest Sciences Centre, Agronomy Road – Replace
existing stub in vents on 125 mm pie with two 125 mm pre-insulated tees with service
valves in valve boxes. Valves to be replaced are located approximately 12 feet east from
the nearby stop sign as noted on drawing C-101; and
f. Outside Southwest corner of the Forest Sciences Centre, Main Mall – Replace existing
250 mm valves and reducers with new 400 mm vent-valve-vents upstream of new
reducers in valve boxes.
.3 This specification package covers Civil and Mechanical requirements for the
replacement/installation of the valves at six locations on UBC’s DPS.
Interested parties can access the documents for this opportunity through UBC’s Bonfire portal which can be found at: https://ubc.bonfirehub.ca
Addenda (which may include additional information, clarifications, or modifications) will also be published via UBC’s Bonfire portal. It is the interested party’s sole responsibility to ensure that they receive all Addenda.
