Description
The area to survey in WMU 7-42 are the Besa-Prophet mountain ranges located north of the Sikanni Chief River, south of the Muskwa River and encompasses the Redfern-Keily Park. The area to survey in 7-51 are the mountain ranges surrounding Wokkpash Lake south of the Alaska Highway and immediately west of the WMU boundary. The area to survey in 7-54 are the mountain ranges of the Muncho Lake Provincial Park north and east of the Alaska Highway and includes some targeted ranges of the Northern Rockies. The survey for 7-42 will likely be based out of local accommodations (i.e., Buckinghorse River Lodge) off of the Alaska Highway and will require approximately 42 hours (7 days) of flying to complete approximately 1500 km2. The survey for 7-51 will be based out of local accommodations in Toad River (i.e., Toad River Lodge) and will require approximately 21 hours (3 days) of flying to complete approximately 800 km2, while the survey for 7-54 will be based out of local accommodations at Muncho Lake (i.e., Northern Rockies Lodge) and will require approximately 27 hours (4 days) of flying to complete approximately 950 km2.
Flights will involve high elevation contour flying searching for Stone’s sheep. When Stone’s sheep are observed, the helicopter will circle the individuals to allow the observers to count the number of animals, assess sex, and to classify rams from horn characteristics. The Ministry does not guarantee the estimated number of flight hours as they are subject to change based on a variety of factors. There will be no daily minimums and no fuel surcharges. We request an all-inclusive wet rate cost (inclusive of pilot wages, meals, accommodations, vehicle rental, hangar fees, positioning remote fuel caches, etc.). The Ministry will not cover ferrying time for the initial arrival and departure to and from the point of deployment. The Contractor must be available to perform the services on an as, if, and when required basis within 48 hours-notice of deployment during the term: February 1, 2024, to March 15, 2024.
