Overview of the Work/Service Required
The objective of this project is to develop a Fuel Management Prescription (FMP) for a Landscape Fuel Break (LFB). The LFB is approximately 750 hectares. It is 300 meters wide and approximately 25 kilometers long. It is adjacent to the Helena Lake Forest Service Road, which is northwest of the town on 100 Mile House.
The work will consist of 1) initial recce, layout, and GPS of treatment units on 682 hectares; and 2) a Fuel Management Prescription for 750 hectares. The 68-hectare difference is associated with a portion of wildfire salvage that does not require layout and GPS.
An initial reconnaissance and timber typing work was completed in winter 2021. The report is included in this contract as Appendix 5. This recce covers more area than is required under this contract. The northern section of the Helena Lake Landscape Fuel Break is being completed by a licensee who is harvesting the area. Appendix 4 shows the area to be prescribed in this contract. Digital files will be provided to the successful bidder.
The “2023 FUEL MANAGEMENT PRESCRIPTION GUIDEANCE is an integral part of this contract and must be adhered to when developing the FMP. It is included in this contract as an Appendix.

Tender Submission
The Tender is in response to an Invitation to Tender (the ‘Invitation to Tender’) for LD24DMH017 Helena Lake (South) Landscape Fuel Break and Fuel Management Development issued by the Ministry of Forests (the ‘Ministry’) and must be received by the 100 Mile House Natural Resource District on the form provided not later than July 24, 2023 at 2:00 pm (local time).
The address for ground delivery is 300 Highway 97, 100 Mile House, BC and the mailing address for postal delivery is PO Box 129, 100 Mile House, BC, V0K2E0 (the ‘Closing Location’)
All Tenders submitted in accordance with these Conditions are irrevocable for a period of 30 days following the tender opening (the ‘Tender Opening’).
We will not be accepting electronic bids.
