Description
BRSD is looking to purchase three (3) 52-passenger school buses. Meeting most current D250 school bus standards and Alberta Provincial Regulations.
Chassis Design:
Seats that can be switched to seat belted seating on the entire bus
Sound abatement package
Front and rear rubber mud flaps
Front and rear tow hooks
Fuel tank having a 250-L minimum capacity
Winter front and bug screen (full size one piece)
Power and Drive Train:
Diesel engine: CUMMINS ISB 220 H.P. Turbo
On/Off engine brake
1250-Watt block heater (bumper plug)
Factory or auxiliary oil pan heater (wired to block heater bumper plug)
Antifreeze –40C
Transmissions: Allison automatic with OverDrive
Rear axle ratio compatible with engine and transmission
Prop shaft guards
Air-actuated park brake with brake shoes mounted at differential
ABS with Traction control

Heater valves must be of ball valve construction at the driver seat and 2
at engine
Booster pump controlled at the control panel
Rear - One 80,000 BTU to be mounted behind the rear wheel well
One 80,000 BTU to be mounted mid-ship
Front - One 90,000 BTU left side with defroster equipment
One 50,000 BTU light step well with defroster equipment
Engine pre-heater with a timer (preference Webasto TSL 17)
Mirrors:
Driver’s heated rearview remote mirrors (left and right)
Left and right fender-mounted, heated cross-over mirrors (with proper
bracing)
Body Construction:
All roof panels are riveted in; no screwed panels on the interior of the bus
All metal constructed body and headers (16 gauge side panels to the
bottom of windows)
Full perforated acoustic headliner
Driver storage compartment above driver on the left side with latch to
hold open door
Battery box: skirt mounted, slide-out tray, upper and lower pin-type door
hinges
Body and frame undercoating
Cowling steps left and right
Modesty panels left and right
Stainless steel grab handle at entrance door (right & left)

Auxiliary front windshield defroster fans; two speeds controlled separately
at the panel (mounted left and right corner above the windshield)
Electrical circuits protected by breakers
Stop and taillights: two (2) rear 7” two (2) rear 4” stop and tail lights LED
Marker lights: front, rear, and mid-ship LED
Directional lights: front mounted on cowling area LED
Directional lights: rear-mounted LED
Rear backup lights: 7” LED
Clear strobe light: specialty part # SMA 515 400; meeting requirements
of D250
Interior dome lights: in driver and passenger areas controlled separately
at the panel
LED eight-way alternating lights (indicate which brand of LED you're
using)
Air-operated side stop arm with LED lights
Air-operated crossing gate
All lights and fans are controlled by solenoids operated through the
ignition switch
Passenger advisory system or equivalent.
Front and rear vandalism-style lock with interlock system.
Pre-trip light check
