Description
The Wildfire Management Branch is seeking proponents to provide services to the wildfire predictive services unit. These services include but are not limited to simulated fire growth modeling support, tools and other analytics that include data analytics (ex. Fire weather, fire behaviour, fire information trends and wildfire business analytics). In addition, code creation and code updates for operational use within our models, tools and streamlining services for fire management as well as forest management analytics and services. These supports will help the predictive services unit produce and provide managers, duty officers, incident command teams and fire practitioners with critical information and products that are essential for wildfire operations and prevention. This RFP’s objectives are to support and align with identified business needs. These objectives include creating robust assurance systems and effective resource management practices that support the forest sector and protect public safety; Develop and implement effective policies, grants, and innovative technologies for wildfire management; Protect and enhance the health of Alberta forest resources. Moreover, this RFP will support recommendations outlined by the Alberta Spring 2019 Wildfire Review of enhancing preparedness planning framework, integrating fire weather and behaviour and supporting the intelligence unit. Candidates will work with the wildfire predictive services unit, specifically the wildfire intelligence program lead. Projects will be determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the need within the Wildfire Management Branch and the wildfire predictive services unit.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 35 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2023/07/03.
