    Description
    1. General – includes mobilization/demobilization, insurance, Environmental Protection Plan, Worksite Safety Plan. Submittals to be reviewed and approved by AFP prior to commencement. 2. Initial site assessment, gathering of requirements and verification of standard trail bridge drawings and details (Attachment 3). a. Existing footbridge is approximately 13.7m long x 2.1m wide. b. For the purpose of bidding, assume the span of the bridge will be a min. of 15m long x 2.4m wide. Obtain Province’s approval for bridge span and precise crossing location prior to proceeding to detailed design. c. Utility Locates as required 3. Demolition and off-site disposal of existing bridge infrastructure. a. All in-water work to adhere to regulatory requirements (Water Act – Code of Practice for Water Course Crossings, Fisheries and Oceans Canada requirements, etc.) 4. Geotechnical investigation to determine suitability of subsurface soils, and identify foundation and installation requirements. 5. Preparation of shop drawings for the new footbridge. Reference Attachment 4 – Standard Trail Bridge Drawings for general design specifications. Shop drawings are to be signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer registered in Alberta, Canada. 6. Supply and installation of new footbridge, in accordance with approved shop drawings. 7. Minor adjustments to existing trails if necessary to re-align with new bridge installation. For the purpose of bidding, assume approximately 20 m2 of trail re-alignment and re-surfacing will be required. 8. General site grading and reshaping of work areas. 9. Bridge signage installation (signage to be supplied by AFP, mounting posts and hardware to be supplied and installed by the Contractor). 10. Clean-up and restore the site to its original operational standard. 11. Closeout documentation including as-built drawings, photographs, safety records, etc. All work shall comply with all relevant codes and environmental regulations. This includes provisions made within the Water Act Code of Practice for Watercourse Crossing (AFP will submit the notification), and the implementation of measures to avoid and mitigate the potential for prohibited effects to fish and fish habitat per Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) (Attachment 5) and AFP Best Practices and Standard Work Requirements (Attachment 2).
