Town of Sundre - RFP - Tourism Strategic Plan

Solicitation number AB-2024-07105

Publication date

Closing date and time 2024/08/09 08:00 EDT

    Description
The Sundre Tourism Association invites qualified and experienced firms to submit a proposal to complete a five-year Tourism Strategic Plan that will assist the Sundre Tourism Association in identification and implementation of tourism initiatives. The Sundre Tourism Association ambitions are to develop a Tourism Strategic Plan that takes its tourism services to the next level. With the tourism landscape, best practices and objectives in Alberta having changed significantly over the last several years, the intent with this proposal is to achieve a Tourism Strategic Plan that should function as a focused work plan for the next five years with goals, timelines, clearly outlined strategies, and alignment with the current regional and Provincial destination development activities and objectives. The Sundre Tourism Association is an organization for the community of Sundre, which includes the Town of Sundre and surrounding area. Statistically, the Town’s population is approximately 2,800 people, with a trade area of around 8,000 and seasonal summertime growth to approximately 12,000 supported by over 2,000 campsites within a ten-minute drive from Town. In addition, Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors estimates that 7 – 10 million vehicles of all sizes pass through Sundre on a yearly basis, many of which are people searching for recreational opportunities, (camping, ATV riding, horseback riding, hiking, hunting and fishing). Sundre is located along the pristine waters of the Red Deer River, surrounded by the natural beauty of forests, creeks, hills and a magnificent view of the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, truth and reconciliation, we acknowledge that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Indigenous Peoples of Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Metis District 3. We acknowledge that the Town of Sundre and area exists on the traditional lands of Indigenous Peoples who have lived on these lands and taken care of them since time immemorial. We acknowledge that all who come to enjoy the splendor of the land and the nature that surrounds this community, walk with the ancestors.
