Alberta Parks is seeking Proposals from businesses or organizations with demonstrated experience to operate and maintain the Bow Valley-Sibbald Facility Operating Group in Kananaskis Region under a Facility Operating Agreement. Under this contract, the Operator is responsible for the day-to-day tasks associated with running the facilities covered by the agreement, both those from which they generate revenue (e.g., campgrounds, group camping areas) and those from which they do not generate revenue (day use areas). Facility Operating Agreements are like a franchise model, with the Operator operating under the Alberta Parks brand, and being required to follow the Provincial Parks Fees Order, regulations, directives, performance standards, and business rules for consistency across the Alberta Parks system.
This Facility Operating Agreement will be for a 10-year term commencing April 1, 2025, with a potential extension of up to 5 additional years.
Bow Valley-Sibbald Facility Operating Group is located 80 kilometres west of Calgary, Alberta. The facilities are situated along the Trans-Canada Highway, Highway 68 and Highway 40, and provide opportunities for year-round recreation including camping, group camping, and a variety of day use activities. There are 35 day use areas within the Facility Operating Group, many of which receive high visitation year-round. Bow Valley-Sibbald has 7 campgrounds with over 570 campsites available plus 7 group campgrounds. There is a mix of reservable and self-registration sites, as well as serviced and un-serviced sites. Seasonal interpretive programs in select campgrounds are provided by the Province. The Bow Valley Store, located near the entrance to Bow Valley Campground, is also part of this opportunity.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 121 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2025/04/01.
