    Description
As part of its Calgary Climate Strategy Pathways to 2050 and the mitigation theme and program pathway of zero carbon energy transition outlined in this strategy document, The City of Calgary (“The City”) is planning to invite interested parties to respond to a Request for Prequalification (RFPQ) for eligibility to respond to a planned Request for Proposals to develop, finance, build, own, operate and maintain their proposed Renewables Project. The City is seeking Qualification Submissions for Renewables Projects that: i. are a single Renewable Generating Facility (Wind); ii. has a Contract Capacity that would reasonably be expected to be capable of generating, on an annual basis, at least 550,000 but not more than 590,000 Renewable Attributes in the form of Renewable Energy Certificates (equivalent to generating 550,000 to 590,000 Megawatt-hours (MWh) of Renewable Electricity annually from the Renewables Project) for purchase by The City; iii. can deliver Electricity to the AIES (either transmission or distribution connected); iv. be commercially operational by January 1, 2027 (“Target Commercial Operation Date”); and v. are a New Build or Expansion, separately metered. The City will not procure the actual physical delivery of electricity through this sourcing event. The proposed agreement structure will utilize a contract for differences mechanism, and will obligate the developer to deliver electricity to the AIES at the pool price. A subsequent RFP will also be executed with proponents that are qualified from this RFPQ.

    Contract duration

The estimated contract period will be 243 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2027/01/01.
