The University of Alberta is inviting the submission of Proposals to supply a benchtop electrospinner which is capable of producing nanofibrous polymeric scaffolds in a consistent, efficient and reproducible manner. The instrument should have the capacity to control parameters such as temperature and humidity and should also contain a batch control function and an audit trail function. The department of surgery will use this equipment for the critical aspect of a study to generate a blood supply network at a desired site (e.g., subcutaneous space), by utilizing a biomaterial-based approach where functional fibrous scaffolds are manufactured using the electrospinning technique. The successful proponent will be expected to supply, install, maintain and deliver on-site training for the proposed equipment.
