Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration - Request for Proposal - Municipal, First Nations and Metis Settlements Child Care Community Needs Assessments

Alberta is seeking to support Stakeholders in identifying their child care needs and/or strategies for managing their needs through an externally developed and led community assessment. This community needs assessment will help identify the child care needs of diverse and/or vulnerable communities, explore potential program implementation, and help to inform the development of future licensed child care programs for one or more of the following vulnerable and/or diverse communities: • Lower income families (not all families receiving child care subsidy would qualify as lower income; definition of a “low income family” may vary by jurisdiction and would need to be identified within objective reporting); • Indigenous families; • Lone parent families; • Families in underserved communities, including Black, racialized, immigrant or refugee families; • Families of children with disabilities and children needing enhanced or individual supports; • Families with caregivers who are working non-standard hours; • Families with limited or no access to child care programs and services in the children’s official language (English and French); • Rural and remote regions; and/or • High-cost urban/low-income urban neighbourhoods; and/or • Other diverse and/or vulnerable family or community need not identified above.
