Description
The PP&S Technology Ecosystem Roadmap was developed to provide strategic direction for creating an innovative and tech-driven workspace that enhances the experience of both ATB team members and clients.
As part of this initiative, ATB assessed the current state of PP&S technologies, conducted workshops with various levels of PP&S leadership, and ran discovery sessions to understand pain points and opportunities across all PP&S teams. In addition, we carried out extensive market research and analysis, and provided recommendations to senior leadership which were approved in August, 2024.
The Technology Ecosystem Strategy and its governance framework ensure that all technology decisions align with ATB’s enterprise goals and PP&S strategic objectives. This strategy establishes a transparent process for evaluating, selecting, and implementing technology solutions in line with organizational priorities.
The Operational Health and Safety (OH&S) plays a critical role in managing workplace safety requirements at ATB. This small team oversees training credentials for over 1,600 part-time OH&S Team members across all ATB locations ( (e.g. fire wardens, CPR training, site safety representative, etc.). In addition, they are required to conduct regular site safety inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.
Currently, OH&S relies on custom-built database solutions and numerous manually updated spreadsheets for incident and claims management, safety inspections, and certification tracking, which place a significant burden on the teams' ability to manage compliance and streamline operations. Manual processes increase the risk of errors, data duplications, and inconsistencies, making it difficult to ensure accurate, up to date records. This decentralized approach also slows down reporting and makes it challenging to track compliance across multiple sites.. Additionally, the lack of integration to existing systems leads to inefficiencies and redundant data entry.
To address these challenges, the OH&S team requires an Integrated Health System (IHS) that centralizes training records, automates workflows, and improves data visibility. An ideal IHS would include features such as timely updates, automated compliance reports, and notifications for expiring certifications, reducing the administrative burden. Seamless integration with other enterprise platforms (e.g. Learning Management System (Absorb Software), or new Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS), through open APIs or ETL processes would further enhance efficiency by eliminating duplicating entries and enabling cross-departmental data sharing. These improvements would help the OH&S team streamline compliance reporting, improve reporting capabilities, and ensure alignment with ATB’s regulatory and safety standards.
