The area shown on the charts and diagrams consists of an estimated quantity of 68.2 km of roadway to be crack sealed. The Contractor will be required (Unit Price Schedule A) to utilize compressed air to cleanout/blow debris out from the cracks. The cleaning of cracks shall consist of air being blown into the crack in a direction from the centerline to the shoulder immediately before applying the crack sealer to the cracks. The Contractor shall apply the cold pour crack sealer to the cracks when the cracks are dry to ensure the sealant adheres to the pavement surface. The Contactor will remove excessive amounts of sealant from the pavement surface by the use of a squeegee, in a direction from the centerline to the shoulder, immediately following the application of the sealant. Traffic is to be kept off of the crack-filled portions until the sealant applied to the cracks has cured. Should tracking of the sealant occur on the roadway, the Contactor, at his own expense, shall cover sealant with a blotting agent, such as clean dry sand, to prevent such tracking.
