Description
The Department of Ophthalmology submitted a purchase request of a reverse osmosis water system from Evoqua Water Technologies. The system will be used for animal housing in addition to the new frog racks. With the merger of the aquatic facilities in SASS and HSLAS into NCAS, it is important to use the same equipment previously purchased from Evoqua Water Technologies to reduce maintenance and contract costs. This allows redundancy in the systems for parts and repairs, and it is also better for research and animal welfare as a reduction in variables of water quality of different systems. The labs already have personnel available who know how to use this system, and parts can be used between the systems interchangeably. This is more cost effective and efficient than having different systems for each facility.
