Infrastructure - Request for Proposal - RFP for Construction Management Services for DRUMHELLER – Drumheller Health Centre (DHC) – Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) – Construction Management Services

1) The MDRD involves detailed and multi-step processes to clean, disinfect or sterilize reusable medical devices to avoid risks of infection due to microorganisms in various medical processes and procedures. The existing MDRD is located on the main floor of the DHC facility. Its core services and functional components include: a) Receiving contaminated medical devices requiring reprocessing, including scope reprocessing, b) Decontaminating and disinfecting/sterilizing instrumentation and medical devices, c) Preparing and packaging of reusable medical devices, and; d) Storage and distribution of sterilized medical devices. 2) The goals of this project are to: a) Design to modernize the existing MDRD space of about 195 square meters and expand into the adjacent garage bays of 112 square meters (total project area of 307 square meters), to meet growing service demand and improve workflow, and to replace the 6 existing hoppers (six (6) total) with mechanical flushers/disinfectors at soiled utility rooms throughout the existing facility. b) Complete the renovation in multiple phases as designed to meet best practices and standards, commission and hand over the completed facility to Health Shared Services (HSS, formerly Alberta Health Services (AHS)) for operation.
