    Description
The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is inviting proposals from qualified research firms, labour-market research consultants, economic research firms, workforce planning specialists, and data analysis vendors to conduct an environmental scan of Alberta’s engineering and geoscience professions for the 2026–2036 period. The work will support APEGA’s regulatory mandate, strategic planning, workforce sustainability planning, and government engagement by identifying emerging trends affecting professional engineers, professional geoscientists, permit-holding companies, and Alberta’s labour market. The successful vendor will complete an initial phase of work that includes a comprehensive 10-year environmental scan, a robust year-one labour-market analysis, demand projections, occupational analysis, supply modelling, industry-driver analysis, and assessment of the potential impacts of artificial intelligence, automation, demographic change, migration, retirement trends, post-secondary enrolment, and economic conditions on Alberta’s engineering and geoscience professions. Mandatory deliverables include a labour-market environmental scan, a concise internal summary for APEGA, editable charts and tables, a prioritization session, and a multi-year research roadmap to guide possible future research. APEGA may provide aggregated, de-identified registrant data after contract award and execution of appropriate confidentiality and data-sharing agreements. Vendors may also use external data sources, such as Statistics Canada, Government of Alberta labour-market forecasts, industry economic outlooks, and post-secondary enrolment and graduation data. Qualified proponents should demonstrate experience in labour-market research, workforce forecasting, economic analysis, occupational analysis, data modelling, research methodology, data visualization, regulated professions, and Alberta industry trends. Optional additional work may be considered at APEGA’s discretion and may include AI deep dives, demographic modelling, post-secondary pipeline research, economic scenario modelling, comparative provincial analysis, or dashboards. Optional additional work is not guaranteed and will be subject to separate approval.

    Contract duration

The estimated contract period will be 3 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2026/08/10.
