Solicitation number AB-2026-04357

Closing date and time 2026/06/16 12:00 EDT

    Description
The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the NIRSport 2 16-16 Core System Unit with functional bundles and an online installation and training for fNIRD acquisition from NIRx Medical Technologies, LLC. The NIRx sport is a portable, backpack-based system designed for human brain mapping during activities involving movement, such as walking. It features transmission and detection electronics, along with specialized connectors that send light into the head and receive it back. The UCalgary Kinesiology research team previously purchased two NIRx scout systems, which have been used for several years to study concussion and mild traumatic brain injury in adolescents. The project in Kinesiology, for which the NIRx sport is being purchased, is associated with the previous work carried out with the NIRx scout. To maintain compatibility with their acquisition system and ensure data consistency, the team requires the new system from the same manufacturer. This will also reduce the need for additional training in the complex aspects of data acquisition and processing specific to the NIRx system. It is the team’s understanding that only NIRx system is capable of meeting their research requirements
