University of Calgary - Advanced Contract Award Notice / Notice of Proposed Procurement - Illumina NovaSeq X Sequencing System

The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the NovaSeq X Sequencing System as the next-generation replacement and expansion of its existing Illumina sequencing infrastructure. The Centre for Health Genomics and Informatics (CHGI) currently operates within an established Illumina sequencing ecosystem, including NovaSeq 6000 instrumentation, validated laboratoryworkflows, trained personnel, quality management procedures, data management systems, and bioinformatics pipelines. The proposed NovaSeq X acquisition will integrate directly into this existing environment andsupport ongoing research programs without disruption. The proposed NovaSeq X acquisition is intended to maintain and expand this existing sequencing ecosystem while providing next generation sequencing capacity It is the University’s understanding that Illumina Canada Ulc is the sole Canadian distributor of the NovaSeq X Sequencing System and is a proprietary system of Illumina Canada Ulc. NovaSeq X represents a continuation of an existing platform strategy rather than the introduction of a new technology.
