    Description
Currently the Lethbridge Electric Utility (LEU) brings power across the Oldman river through primary feeder cables located inside the Whoop-Up Bridge. The cables have reached end of life and are in need of replacement. Because of the challenges of transitioning cables from underground into the bridge cable trays and in response to the change in code making it prohibitive to install cables inside a bridge, it is necessary for LEU to move the cables off the bridge into a new alignment. LEU seeks the aid of a consultant to determine the location and secure approvals for an underground path across the river just South of the Whoop-Up Drive bridge. The ultimate goal of the LEU crossing project is to install 13 continuous pipe with an inner diameter of 4” across the river South of the Whoop-Up Drive bridge. These conduits will terminate in large vaults on either side of the river where the power cables can be pulled and then exit the vaults and transition into the existing cables underground. The preferred crossing location is indicated in the attached Attachment 2 - Lethbridge River Crossing Location. This document shows two red lines indicating two potential locations that LEU would like to use as the crossing location to be determined by the consultant as the most cost effective location.
