    Description
The Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology submitted a sole source request on February 27, 2024 to purchase Reagent Custom Panels. The reagents are custom made panels of gene targets which are unique to the department’s research. One custom panel is the Banff Humah Transplant (B-HOT) panel which is studied in a multicenter research program. It is mandatory to use this international consensus gene panel to make results comparable between centers. Similarly, the second gene panel is custom made and validated for a translational research project in breast cancer. This order is now the reagent set for the prospective validation of this gene signature. No other gene panel can be used because the preliminary training set data cannot be used for comparison in the validation cohort. Nanostring Technologies Inc. is the only vendor able to supply these reagents on a regulatory approved clinical grade platform and work on formalin fixed paraffin embedded clinical remnant samples with a high number of targets in a panel (n=770). All are prerequisites for translational clinical research
