Description
Scope of Project:
The City of Calgary requires the Supply, Delivery, and Pick-up of Scrap Vehicles used in Extrication Trainings for The Calgary Fire Department.
Notice is hereby given by The City of its intent to enter into contract with Country Wide Auto Recycling Inc. for the supply, delivery, and pick-up of non-repairable (scrap) vehicles used in extrication trainings for the Calgary Fire Department.
Legal Name of firm:
Country Wide Auto Recycling Inc.
Description of service and goods:
The Calgary Fire Department requires a number of non-repairable (scrap) passenger motor vehicles annually to maintain training competencies in vehicle extrication.
• Supply of passenger vehicles consists of the vehicle purchase, preparation and delivery, and pick-up of the vehicles and all dislocated debris;
• Passenger vehicles consist of sedans, coupes, vans, trucks, and sport utility vehicles;
• The vehicles must be prepared and delivered as drained of all fluids, batteries, mercury switches, closed containers, and other potentially hazardous materials in an appropriate manner;
• Vehicles are permitted to have dents and rust; however, the major parts are to be fully intact (doors, trunk lid, hood, bumper, fenders, body panels, front windshield, side and rear windows) with the underside of the vehicle safe with no protruding or loose parts/pieces);
• All storage areas/compartments/pickets including, but not limited to sun visors, trunk or hatch areas, wheel wells, over and under-seat areas, instrument panels, and dashboards, shall be inspected and free of the following interior debris: personal articles and belongings, insects, rodents, animals, garbage/trash, hypodermic needles and similar or related paraphernalia;
• Any fluids and all other potentially hazardous material shall be removed and properly disposed;
• Scrap bins provided or arranged for the transport of all loose parts of the vehicles removed during training
It is the intent of The City to award this contract for the following reason(s):
1. The City’s previous attempts of finding vendors for this process have been unsuccessful;
2. This is not a standard service provided by any type of business and is specific to the needs of the Calgary Fire Department;
3. Finding a vendor who wants to provide The City with the exact service requested and that meets the needs of both the CFD and the supplier, resulting in positive outcome for both sides, is rare.
