Description
The research being conducted is centered on methane emission and feed efficiency. The department currently has a 300’ long tie-stall barn that can house up to 143 milking cows at any one time. The milking system is a pipeline style that runs on both sides of the barn back to a central hub where the milk is then pumped over the bulk tank. The head units are supported by Dairy Comp 305 and Dairy Plan C21 software programs that are exclusive to run with GEA head units.
Dairy Lane Systems is the closest location that is able to respond within 1-2 hours for any maintenance and repairs to the system. This is critical for research and animal health. The cow herd must be milked twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, 365 days a year without exception to measure milk weights, allow individual milk samples to be drawn, and help indicate illness.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 7 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2022/12/01.
