PURPOSE
The City is seeking experienced and qualified Contractor(s) to provide environmentally preferrable janitorial cleaning supplies, equipment, and custodial goods to various locations within the City on an “as and when” required basis. The Goods and Services include without limitation the supply and delivery of material, the provision of labour, and equipment to provide the Goods and perform the Services and other requirements as described herein.
The Contractor should provide a full catalogue of cleaning supplies, equipment and custodial related goods, services and solutions to the City. In addition to the full line catalogue request, the City is also requesting competitive price discounts for several categories of cleaning supplies and equipment including, but not limited to, the following:
• Chemicals
• Skin Care
• Paper Towels, Tissues, and other consumable items
• Sanitary Maintenance and Equipment
• Safety Hazard Supplies
• Miscellaneous Cleaning Supplies
The City is committed to purchasing cleaning products that are environmentally responsible and safe. The City has adopted the principles of sustainability and is committed to meeting the cleaning needs of its facilities while not harming the environment or human health.
The City’s “Green Cleaning” Program was implemented September 1, 2009, to ensure that cleaning products used in all areas of its facilities are non-toxic, are biodegradable and help preserve and protect the environment, and reduce waste while maintaining high quality cleaning. The Contractor should, therefore, ensure that cleaning products and agents are certified “Green Clean” in keeping with standards set forth by the City’s “Green Cleaning” program.
All products offered through the Contractor’s ordering system must clearly identify applicable Green Seal or EcoLogo certifications. The Contractor must notify the City in writing of any changes to product formulations, certifications, or availability that may impact compliance with the City’s Green Cleaning Program.
