The successful proponent will work closely with the BCWS, partner agencies, including the First Nations Emergency Services Society (“FNESS”), and burn proponents, including First Nations, local governments, and others, to profile the use of cultural and prescribed fire. The contractor must be able to demonstrate their experience working with Indigenous Peoples, and commitment to cultural safety.
Key deliverables of the Contract will include:
- Collaboration with the prescribed and cultural burning team and primary partners to develop a comprehensive communications and engagement strategy.
- Ongoing oversight and maintenance of the prescribedfire.ca microsite (including content development, functionality, performance, hosting and server management, security, SEO, and analytics).
- Developing and managing social media channels associated with prescribedfire.ca (including drafting posts and creative content, online listening and community management).
- Maintaining and updating existing photo, video, audio and graphic assets, and completion of some assets that are currently in development (could include filming, production, editing, and posting).
- Creation of new assets profiling cultural and prescribed burning as it happens across the province (including filming, recording, production, editing, and development of supporting written content).
- Development and execution of an earned media strategy to support media engagement with cultural and prescribed burning and build greater public awareness (including a detailed action plan with measurable goals).
- Development and execution of a paid advertising strategy and campaign to further promote cultural and prescribed fire to new audiences (including a detailed action plan with measurable goals).
- Collaboration with prescribed and cultural burning team and primary partners to develop standalone branding and visual identity.
- Identification of webinar, speaking engagement, and regional forum opportunities to further promote cultural and prescribed fire to new audiences.
- Provision of additional communications and marketing support for the CRx and BCWS communications teams as needed over the course of the contract term.
