Description
The GeoBC Branch of the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is looking for a qualified open source GIS software developer to assume primary responsibility for the maintenance and development of the GeoBC Atlas – Integrated Transportation Network Application (GBAITN) software and database. The GBAITN is a system for the update and maintenance of the ITN GIS roads database. It consists of a custom desktop GIS editing application written in Java using open-source mapping components, an operational Oracle database, data management tools for import, export and management of the core database, and web-based components written in typescript using a replicated Postgres database that provide API access to ITN data for external systems and partners.
The desktop editing component of the GBAITN is a mature product that requires occasional maintenance. The web-based components are currently in development and are the primary focus of ongoing efforts. The successful proponent will be responsible for both ongoing maintenance of the desktop tool and the development, deployment and management of the web-based components.
The expected budget for this opportunity is $120,000 per year
