Description
British Columbia (BC) Wildfire Service is requesting proposals from qualified and experienced companies to complete a comprehensive review of the accessibility of the current British Columbia (BC) FireSmart public assets and provide accessibility training to staff based on evidence-based recommendations.
Recent strategic planning work by the BC FireSmart Committee (BCFSC) has identified and prioritized the theme of “Access” throughout FireSmart British Columbia (BC) programs and communications. Specifically, FireSmart BC aims to recognize the unique needs and capacities of diverse audiences across the province to facilitate equitable access to the program. To thoroughly and properly address its accessibility priorities, the BCFSC requires a professional accessibility audit, applying a diversity, equity and inclusion lens to all the FireSmart BC programs, assets and touchpoints. From the accessibility audit, the contractor will need to provide recommendations and training/resources to increase inclusion and accessibility capacity within the FireSmart BC team so they can consistently and effectively adapt and create programs with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.
The Province intends to enter into a contract with the highest scoring Proponent who meets all mandatory criteria and whose proposal passes the requirements. The anticipated term of the Contract is from June 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024. This agreement may be renewed for a further one (1) Term of twelve (12) months by written agreement of the parties, subject to satisfactory performance by the Contractor and the availability of funding by the Province. Should the option to renew be exercised it is expected that the Contractor’s rate or price in the preceding term will remain unchanged in the subsequent term, unless, in the ministry’s sole opinion, a negotiated rate change is warranted.
Further details as to the scope of this opportunity and the requirements can be found within this RFP.
