Description
No challenges to the Notice of Intent below were received. The Ministry of Attorney General has awarded a contract to Native Courtworker and Counselling Association of BC (NCCABC).
Notice is hereby given that the Province of British Columbia, as represented by the Ministry of Attorney General of its intent to renew a direct award contract with Native Courtworker and Counselling Association of BC (NCCABC) (the “Supplier”).
The high-level details of the contemplated contract are generally described below.
The Supplier currently provides 30 Indigenous Courtworker positions, as well as 4 other positions supporting administration and service delivery. The Supplier also provides executive leadership for the program and serves about 75% of courthouses throughout the Province. The program serves all Indigenous people.
The purpose of the federally-provincially cost-shared Indigenous Courtworker Program (the "Program") is to facilitate and enhance access to justice by assisting Indigenous people involved in the criminal justice system to obtain fair, just, equitable and culturally sensitive treatment (including providing referral services to victims and/or members of the client's family).
The Province is contemplating a direct award with the Supplier for the following reasons: The Ministry has chosen not to call for proposals at this time because the Province believes that the NCCABC is currently the only contractor with the formal training program, experience and capacity to deliver and administer the Indigenous Courtworker program on a province-wide basis.
