The current edition of the 2018 BC Codes is free to access online and uses a browser index to navigate to individual PDFs. It is also available in print. The Ministry is seeking to improve how code users will access the 2023 BC Building Code (2023 BCBC).
The public review for the 2023 BCBC is currently underway with feedback used to help inform any needed changes before finalization. The next BC Codes are anticipated to be available in 2023, with an effective date late in 2023.
The Ministry is seeking a publisher to convert the upcoming 2023 BCBC into a digital format and enhance it with functions that users have identified as time-saving and user-friendly. Ideally, a publisher would digitize the 2023 BCBC to make it fully machine-readable.
