Description
The Ministry of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship (WLRS), West Coast Region, Ecosystems (Nanaimo, B.C.), is intending to direct award a training and professional review contract for the following proposed work/service:
- Develop and provide field training to First Nations, licensees, and contractors in the West Coast Region on the identification and evaluation of black bear dens, as per field methods developed by WLRS Coast Region (minimum of 4 sessions). This should occur from June - September 2023.
- Provide expert review and comment on any WLRS draft reports and analyses following field season, provide input on refined study design for future years.
The contractor’s qualifications required to complete the services are: - Considered a subject area expert on Coastal black bear dens with over 15 years’ experience specific to this subject;
- Experience in both the academic study of bear ecology (publications) and the operational nature of bear den management (field evaluation);
- Experience providing training in bear den identification and evaluation to various audiences, including First Nations, resource professionals, and government staff.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 9 month(s).
