    Description

The Ministry of Forests, Cascades Natural Resource District (The Ministry) is hereby inviting qualified silviculture contractors to submit a sealed tender for a 2024 Tree Planting and Associated Danger Tree Assessment and Falling contract (PL25DCS100) in both the Merritt and Lillooet Timber Supply Areas, in accordance with the specifications and terms of the contract tender package. The contract contains an option-to-renew clause whereby the Ministry reserves the right to renew but is under no obligation to renew the contract for another term, up to a maximum of 3 years total, subject to funding and satisfactory performance of the bidder. As renewal is not assured, contractors are cautioned to prepare their tender price on the basis of a single-term contract only.
The objective of this contract is to Danger Tree assess and fall where necessary, and then subsequently plant tree seedlings in previously burned wildfires open areas or underneath standing immature and mature burned timber. Provincial funding is largely provided under the Forest Investment Program (FIP).
The 2024 Tree Planting and Associated Danger Tree Assessment and Falling contract (PL25DCS100) is for the planting of approximately 1,100,000 (one million one hundred thousand) seedlings on 700 Hectares within the McKay wildfire (Lillooet TSA) and the Lytton creek fire (Merritt TSA).
Fieldwork is expected to commence on or after April 20th, 2024. All fieldwork is expected to be completed by June 15, 2024.  Work start/completed dates for each planting unit are highly dependent on seasonal site conditions; however, the Silviculture contractor should make a reasonable effort to meet the planting deadlines. A work Progress Plan will be agreed upon prior to contract commencement.
Sealed tenders for the following 2024 Tree Planting and Associated Danger Tree Assessment and Falling contract (PL24DCS100) contract will be received by the Cascades Natural Resource District Office, 3840 Airport Road, PO Box 4400 Station Main, Merritt, British Columbia, V1K 1B8, until 2:00 pm (local time) on October 3, 2023, after which time all tenders will be opened in public.
Tenders must be submitted in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in the tender package. The lowest-priced or any tender will not necessarily be accepted. This solicitation is subject to the West Partnership Trade Agreement and Chapter 5 of the Agreement on Internal Trade.
