Description
The high-level details of the contemplated contract are described below.
The aggregate value of the contract is expected not to exceed, exclusive of applicable taxes $7,000
The term of the contract is expected to be April 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024.
The Province is contemplating a direct award with the Supplier for the following reasons:
- The supplier is required to install livestock salt at the Lardeau Bluffs from spring 2024 to fall 2024.
- The supplier will install 2 x RECONYX wildlife cameras to monitor lick use by mountain goats.
- The supplier will provide a year-end report with MOTI by December 2024.

The Province is contemplating a direct award with the Supplier for the following reasons:
- This project was developed to establish diversionary salt feeding stations to intercept mountain goats from traveling down to Highway 31 to obtain minerals, where they have an increased risk of being struck by vehicles.
- Aurora Wildlife Research has delivered this interference salting program for 5 years, providing MoTI with valuable camera data information on efficacy.
- Salt licks have essentially eliminated mountain goat presence on Highway 31, and this should be continued for the foreseeable future.
Aurora Wildlife Research has established diversion sites, and relationships with locals and developed monitoring protocols.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Respondents should be familiar with mountain goat behaviour and ecology;
- Respondents must be available to monitor and deploy salts from April 1 – November 2024;
- Respondents must be experienced in deploying and monitoring wildlife cameras;
- Respondents must be capable of carrying backpacks of up to 50 lbs in variable terrain and inclement weather; and
- Respondents should be experienced in technical writing and communicating results.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 10 month(s).
