USING GROWTH & YIELD MODELLING (MGM) TO UNDERSTAND BROADLEAF AND MIXEDWOOD STAND DYNAMICS
Solicitation number 192792
Publication date
Closing date and time 2024/04/08 11:00 EDT
Description
The contract will involve:
-completing growth and yield modelling using the Mixedwood Growth Model for a range of early stand and site conditions.
-using the modelled results and available research to propose changes to current competing vegetation criteria for conifer stocking standards.
-using the modelled results to develop new broadleaf and mixedwood stocking standards
-developing algorithms to allow for the projection of various stand attributes based on free growing survey data.
-using the modelled results and research to develop full rotation broadleaf and mixedwood management regimes to achieve various objectives (e.g., biodiversity, habitat, wildfire resilience, timber).
-validating the Mixedwood Growth Model using permanent sample plots (e.g., CMI, YSM, PSPs) and local forest health information.
-comparing the Mixedwood Growth Model results to other growth and yield models.
-assisting in developing a long-term sampling protocol to validate model initialization assumptions.
-summarizing results and recommendation in reports.
-presenting results and recommendations at meetings.
