Merx Title: RFP Hazardous Waste Management Services
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SFU is a comprehensive public university located in British Columbia, Canada. Established in 1965, SFU has been ranked as one of Canada’s top three comprehensive universities for nearly 20 years.

This Request for Proposals (“RFP”) is an invitation by Simon Fraser University (“SFU” or “the University”) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for the provision of Hazardous Waste Management Services.

    General Requirements include the following:
    1. Utilize at all times during the term of the contract the services of a qualified individual with a minimum of a college diploma or university degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or chemical technology along with at least 3 years directly related experience in performing hazardous materials management, preferably in a research environment.
    2. Use their company’s vehicles for the purposes of delivering chemicals, collecting and transporting hazardous wastes on campus and off-campus and for removal of hazardous wastes from the SFU Hazardous Waste Facility (HWF). The vehicles will have appropriate licensing and insurance to permit transport of dangerous goods. The selected proponent must obtain and display a permit for all vehicles from University Parking Services, which will properly identify the vehicle as having access to pick-up points on-site.
    3. Upon removal from the University, all hazardous wastes become the responsibility of the selected proponent. Unauthorized disposal of wastes will be cause for termination of contract, and reporting to the Provincial/Federal Regulators.
    4. Duly complete all hazardous waste manifests, including signing on behalf of the University as the “authorized person” at the Generator/consignor certification. Supply all required manifest copies, bills of lading and other similar documents to SFU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department in accordance with applicable regulations.
    5. The University may periodically conduct audits of the selected proponent, and any 3rd party contractors as required, for due diligence purposes. These audits include, but are not limited to, the review of service, operational performance and regulatory compliance.
    6. Provide and maintain containers and other supplies for storage and transport. The containers and supplies must meet or exceed specifications for the materials being stored or transported and must be appropriately certified.
    7. All services will be performed during SFU normal working hours from 8am to 4pm.

    Contract duration

The estimated contract period will be 36 month(s).
