Summary:
The District of Lake Country has a project for the design and construction of an Indigenous Cultural Centre & Nature Park, to be constructed at 3724 Woodsdale Road, Lake Country, BC.Key features for the project are as follows:
- Concept Plan: the current concept includes the construction of a ~3500 square foot Cultural Centre Building; plus adjacent nature park with wetlands/boardwalks/trails. An overview of the Project is also provided in Exhibit A (Summary of Proposed Park Elements).
- Interpretive Exhibits: the Project will include interpretive exhibits in both the cultural centre and nature park elements.
- Interpretive Exhibit Total Construction Budget: The District has a $150,000 maximum budget for construction of the Interpretive Exhibit elements of the Project, excluding GST. This budget excludes consulting fees.
- Timeline: Schematic Design is to be completed in 2022, with Detailed Design completed by Spring 2023. Construction is to occur in 2023-2024. The anticipated ‘Ready for Takeover Date’ for the entire Project is July 2024.
- Site Location: 3724 Woodsdale Road, Lake Country, British Columbia (between Beasley Park to the West, and the Okanagan Rail Trail / Oyama Road to the East, and beach access to Wood Lake to the North).
- Project Architect: the District has contracted with Formline Architecture and Urbanism Inc. to be the Architect & Prime Consultant for the Cultural Centre Building.
- Landscape Architect: the District currently has a separate public Request for Proposals process ongoing to select the Landscape Architect for the Project.
