Below is more detailed Information about the work:
- The UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences requires a new in vivo imaging system to detect, image, and quantify fluorescent and luminescent light signals in living small animals (i.e., mice). The overarching purpose of the system is to support the development of new drugs, drug delivery systems, and diagnostic tools to better detect and treat a range of different diseases, such as cancer, genetic diseases, and infectious diseases. This equipment will enable the critical monitoring of signals (e.g., luminescence, fluorescence) that is tagged to molecules of interest or expressed in tissues of interest (e.g., to monitor tumour growth over time, or to monitor the delivery of a drug to different tissues). The instrument must be able to capture high resolution images of multiple mice at once (at least 10 animals per image), with the capacity to capture 3D images of mice (one at a time).
